Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks is known for a lot of things: his flashy personality, his ability to shoot the three-pointer, and his on-court “ice cold” celebration.
But did he steal that famous gesture?
Speaking on the “Podcast P” show, per ClutchPoints, Young addressed an accusation of theft from soccer star Cole Palmer.
Palmer, who also reacts like that when he scores, claims that Young took the celebration from him.
Young defended himself, saying he came up with it on his own with the help of a friend years ago.
The celebration, a play on his nickname “Ice Trae,” is seen often when Young is unstoppable on the court.
“He accused me of stealing [his celebration]? … I remember hitting a three… I did it. I kind of ran with it. I didn’t get it from nobody.”

Young isn’t the only one who has an on-court gesture when he scores.
In fact, he gave Paul George some advice on making one of his own during the podcast.
Young’s is seen more often than others because he can quickly heat up from beyond the three-point line and post some impressive buckets.
Last season, Young averaged 25.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 10.8 assists per game, landing 37.3% of his 8.7 three-point attempts.
Unfortunately, his season was filled with injuries and the Hawks came up short yet again.
The summer saw the departure of Dejounte Murray after two seasons in Atlanta so things could be looking very different for Young and his team in the new season.
Will he have his best year yet and will the Hawks get back into the playoff conversation?
This could be a season when we all see a lot more of Young’s “ice cold” celebration.
