The Kansas City Chiefs just showed the difference between a good team and a championship team.
Many San Francisco 49er players reportedly didn’t even know the new overtime rules, all while the Chiefs had gone over this scenario many times.
With that in mind, star TE Travis Kelce gave the Chiefs’ statistical analysis coordinator, Mike Frazier, plenty of credit for having the team ready for this moment (via ProFootballTalk).
Talking on his New Heights podcast, the future Hall of Famer explained how coach Andy Reid often allows Frazier to have plenty of time during team meetings to go through all the rules, situations, and strategies with the players.
“Every single week we talked about overtime rules in the playoffs and Frazier was up front, giving what we would do in all these scenarios. So everybody on the team, we knew exactly what the best situation was, how we were going to handle it, how we were going to attack it,” Kelce said.

He stated that the players actually listen to him and have plenty of love and respect for him for the way he makes sure to keep them prepared, adding that they were more than ready for this scenario because they had already been taught how to approach it.
At the end of the day, the Niners paid the price for inexperience and a lack of attention to detail.
You may have the most stacked roster in the entire game, but going from a good team to a championship team is all about the little things.
