It’s no secret that it has been a tough opening season for Trea Turner with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Used to posting impressive power-speed numbers and having quality OPS finishes, he is posting his first season below .700 in his career.
As of Monday afternoon, the $300 million man is slashing .238/.291/.378 with a .668 OPS, 11 home runs, and 21 stolen bases.
In recent days, however, Phillies fans have showered him with cheers and applause, as a token of their support through the toughest days of his career.
The gesture has touched Turner’s heart, and he found a way to let fans know he appreciates the unconditional love and support.
“After receiving a standing ovation from Phillies fans, Trea Turner had billboards made thanking them for their support this season,” FOX Sports: MLB tweeted, with a picture that shows him and the words: “Thank you, Philly”.

In the world of professional sports, especially with a big market team like the Phillies, it’s hard to find fans who show that kind of support.
It’s usually dependent on the team form or recent results, especially when the club is associated with high expectations like the Phillies, who just went to the World Series last year.
But they decided to let Turner know they are happy he chose them in free agency.
Perhaps the gesture took some pressure off his shoulders, because he had a great weekend.
His weekend included four hits (two doubles and a home run), a run, and five RBI.
Baby steps.
The Phillies know that his offensive potential is considerable, and are willing to exercise patience.
They have been trending up as a team anyway and have left the Miami Marlins behind in the quest for second place in the NL East.
