When the Philadelphia Phillies gave Trea Turner a $300 million contract in the winter, they envisioned a hitter capable of bopping about 20 home runs per year with 25-30 stolen bases; not to mention good shortstop defense, excellent contact, and on-base skills.
Is it possible that he raised his home run ceiling?
Is it possible that just one month is enough sample for us to believe that he can surpass 30 long balls for the first time in his career?
It appears that might be the case.
Turner hit another home run in spring training play with the Phils; against Chris Bassitt and the Toronto Blue Jays.

He has played just a handful of exhibition games because he was with Team USA in the World Baseball Classic (WBC).
There, he led America’s powerful lineup and all batters in home runs, with five.
He went yard in the quarterfinals, the semifinals, and in the finals against Japan.
In total, he is up to seven homers in the month of March.
Turner, for years, was a speedster and a stolen base threat capable of swiping 40 bases per year, contributing between 10 and 20 home runs.
He increased his power ceiling in 2021, reaching 28 for the first time.
Last year, he also surpassed 20, and finished with 21.
Does he have another power gear in him?
We think he does, and that we could possibly see him reaching 30 long balls for the first time in his career.
