The Philadelphia Phillies knew what they were getting when they signed Trea Turner this offseason.

The star shortstop agreed to a 10-year deal with the Phillies and he was expected to help this team get back to the World Series.

But he has struggled in his first season with the Phillies.

Turner finished May batting .208 with three home runs and eight RBIs in 25 games.

But it appears after a slow start that Turner is turning things around.

According to Jakib Sports, Turner is batting .317 with two home runs and five RBIs in only 10 games in June.

The Phillies needed this version of Turner to show up.

It was only a matter of time until he turned his season around and it appears that is happening now.

Turner has been healthy all season, playing in 64 of the 65 games.

It is not the first time a player took a while to get acclimated to his new team.

The Phillies have won seven of their last eight games and now find themselves only one game behind .500.

Not only are things turning around for Turner but the whole Phillies team has been substantially better in June.

They have their work cut out for them to get back in the NL East race.

The Phillies are 32-33 and sit eight-game behind the Braves for first place in the division.

But even a wild card berth would suffice for the Phillies.

They went from the wild card game to the World Series last year.

If they can keep playing good baseball the Phillies should find themselves back in the playoff picture.
