After finishing his 194-game suspension by MLB for the sexual assault allegations made against him and pitching in Japan in the 2023 season, Trevor Bauer is gearing up for a return to the league.
The Los Angeles Dodgers released him on January 12, 2023, and after this, he signed with the Yokohama BayStars.
His season in Japan was successful – more on that in a minute – and now the pitcher’s agents are meeting with MLB teams with hopes of securing a deal to return to the majors.
“Trevor Bauer’s agents Jon Fetterolf and Rachel Luba are meeting with teams in hopes of finding Bauer a job back in MLB. Bauer went 10-4 with a 2.76 ERA for Yokohama, including 9-2 with a 1.97 ERA over his last 15 starts. His fastball ticked up 1 mph on average, hitting a 99.3 max,” MLB insider Jon Heyman tweeted.

While the public opinion is still divided on Bauer and the aforementioned allegations, he continues to express his desire to return to MLB and has even gone to his Twitter account to connect with fans from several squads.
His season in Japan was phenomenal from a performance standpoint: he had a 2.76 ERA for Yokohama, with a 10-4 record and 130 strikeouts in 130.2 innings.
His last 15 starts were fantastic, as Heyman states, and his fastball remains as effective as ever despite his age (he will turn 33 in January).
It might not be the deal he thinks he deserves, but it’s looking more and more likely that Bauer will, indeed, be returning to MLB for the 2024 season and possibly beyond.
