Fans of the San Francisco 49ers seem split on what the future holds for quarterback Trey Lance.
Some of them feel he is a bust, while others feel he not only has superstar potential but that he will become a superstar.
Regardless, Lance has been putting in work this offseason, and some of that work has been put in alongside Patrick Mahomes, the two-time Super Bowl champion signal-caller for the Kansas City Chiefs.

It’s a good thing Lance is working hard on his game, because it appears he will have a real shot at regaining his starting QB position.
Brock Purdy, who took over that spot after the outgoing Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a season-ending foot injury in Week 13, is recovering after surgery on a torn UCL in his throwing elbow, and he may not be ready for Week 1 of next season.
Of course, Lance started the 2022 campaign as the starter a year after the 49ers gave up some considerable draft capital in order to nab him in the 2021 draft.
Thus far, he hasn’t played that much football, either in the NFL or in college while at North Dakota State University.
He played just 19 games in college, mostly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and he has appeared in only eight NFL games, four of which he has started, as he sustained a season-ending ankle injury in Week 2 last year.
It is way too early to tell what Lance will grow into at this level, and he simply needs to be out on the field for game reps if he has any chance of becoming a star.
