The Aaron Rodgers trade has officially given the New York Jets “contender” status.
Understandably, and as expected, they had to pay up to land the future Hall of Famer, but at least they kept all their core players and budding stars.
Landing one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time puts them in a privileged position for the future, obviously.
But Hall-of-Fame QB Troy Aikman still thinks there will be some pressure on Rodgers to deliver, regardless of how accomplished he’s been in this league.

When asked about the trade, Aikman pointed out that all those guys in the Jets organization know what Rodgers is capable of, but he’ll have to prove himself to them anyways.
Even so, he believes this will be a very positive move for the Jets, shutting down all those concerns and doubts about his long-term appeal or how he’ll deal with the media or some new teammates.
Aikman also raved about the Jets’ defense and how they’ve put together this impressive set of talent, and he knows they’ll be a force to reckon with throughout Rodgers’ tenure in Gotham.
The Jets knew Rodgers was the missing piece in their project, and they weren’t going to let anything get in the way of this trade.
Losing those picks will always hurt, but they’ve never been in the position they’re in right now, and you have to jump the gun to land a future Hall of Famer when he becomes available, which doesn’t happen very often.
