The Miami Heat are trying to acquire Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers and take the next step towards winning the NBA championship, but no progress has reportedly been made on doing so.

The Blazers reportedly don’t seem to like the package the Heat want to offer, and the process could drag out until at least the end of this summer.

Many feel guard Tyler Herro will be included in most or all potential Lillard packages, so much so that in a promo for his basketball camp, the Heat logo on this jersey was removed.

But he responded on Twitter to someone who said he “took Miami off his chest” that such a comment is a reach.

Over the last few years, Herro has become one of Miami’s primary offensive threats, and at age 23, he is considered a big part of their future.

He averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists a game this past season, and he was named the Sixth Man of the Year the season before that.

However, a hand injury limited him to just one game in the 2023 playoffs, and he had to watch as the Heat made an improbable run to the NBA Finals.

During the regular season, they struggled mightily, especially on the offensive end where they were last in points per game, and they had to survive by the skin of their teeth in the play-in tournament just to get to the playoffs.

If the Heat were to land Lillard, they could very well become the favorites to win it all this coming season.
