Tyrese Haliburton has made a huge splash during his time with the Indiana Pacers and is now one of the most talked-about players in the NBA.
Indiana is not one of the biggest markets in the league but that hasn’t stopped Haliburton from drawing a ton of attention to the team.
To receive insight about how to get the best players on his team, even in a small market, Haliburton spoke with an icon who got started in a less well-known location: Kevin Garnett.
On SHOWTIME Basketball, Garnett opened up about his days playing with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
He said that Haliburton reminds him a lot of himself and that others will want to play alongside “people that care” and “have passion.”
Garnett reminded Haliburton that Giannis Antetokounmpo also plays in a small market and his team was able to win the Finals a few years ago, proving that the size of the region doesn’t matter when the greatness is there.
Tyrese Haliburton is in the conversation.
Yes… that conversation.@KevinGarnett5KG gives Tyrese the blueprint for building a contender in a small market.

Garnett also reiterated to Haliburton just how passionate the citizens of Indiana are when it comes to basketball.
Basketball is a “religion” to them, according to Garnett, which will only help inspire Haliburton and attract others to play with him too.
Garnett encouraged Haliburton to just keep playing his heart out and assured him that other like-minded athletes would gravitate toward him.
That’s likely true because Haliburton has been playing some sensational and wildly exciting basketball this season.
Not only has he been scoring and assisting a lot, but he has been a blast to watch and seemingly a blast to play with.
His market might be small, but Haliburton’s talents are very big.
