The Los Angeles Clippers didn’t experience the sort of playoffs they wanted last season.
But despite their weak run, Russell Westbrook consistently played hard for his new team.
Westbrook has gotten flak over the years for numerous things but Clippers head coach Ty Lue has nothing but love for him.
“He saved us,” Lue said to Stephen Jackson on Showtime Basketball, via Tomer Azarly.
He went on: “PG goes down and he went to another level. I love him. I can be real with him, he can be real with him.”
“All he wants is the truth,” Lue added.
Stephen Jackson on Russell Westbrook: “He don’t know me like that but I’ll die for Russ.”
Ty Lue: “I love Russ. From Day 1. What he did for our season, he saved us. PG goes down & he went to another level. I can be real with him, he can be real with him.”

Westbrook has only played 21 games for the Clippers.
He came to the team in February after being let go by the Los Angeles Lakers.
During that time, he averaged 15.8 points and 7.6 assists while starting every game.
Although Westbrook has still had issues here and there, he is playing with a mostly focused and fiery drive to do the most for his team.
During their five games in the playoffs, Westbrook put up 23.6 points per game and was the leader of his team.
As Lue said, he was trying to fill the void left by missing stars like Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
In the end, it wasn’t enough for the Clippers and they were pushed out in the first round.
There are a lot of questions surrounding the Clippers right now.
People are wondering what they will look like next season.
Westbrook has now re-signed with the team as the front office sorts out its issues and makes plans.
If they decide to let go of Leonard or George, Westbrook might have many more chances to shine brightly as he did during the postseason.
