Three-time NBA champion Udonis Haslem spent all 20 years of his career with the Miami Heat, but there was a moment when he almost moved to another team.

Speaking on the “Pat Bev Pod,” Haslem revealed that he nearly got traded to the Philadelphia 76ers for Allen Iverson.

The deal never went through, Haslem remained in Miami, and the rest is history, but it sounds like the trade almost happened.

Haslem didn’t know the specifics of the proposed package and was only aware that Iverson was at the center of it.

That makes sense because he was such a supremely talented basketball player and the Heat would have been willing to give up a lot to get him.

Haslem claims that his teammate Dwyane Wade was one of the reasons why he didn’t leave for Philadelphia.

He reportedly stepped in and prevented the trade from happening.

At the same time, it’s possible that the Heat didn’t like the idea of Wade and Iverson – two up-and-coming stars – playing on the same team.

There is a chance that duo wouldn’t have worked well and that could be part of why the plan fell through.

Haslem wasn’t too pleased with the idea of moving to Philadelphia but thankfully he never had to.

Both players remained with their respective teams and the NBA world never got to see the pairing of Wade and Iverson.

Haslem is now considered a Heat legend and is still very close to the team.

It is hard to imagine him moving up north to play for the Sixers but that almost happened.
