The Miami Heat had Udonis Haslem on their payroll for way longer than most people would’ve liked to.
Haslem didn’t play significant minutes for years, yet he was still at the bottom of the bench as another coach.
His role with the team was instrumental, though, as he was one of the few veterans still in the league, trying to teach the young players the ropes of being an NBA player, holding them accountable, and making sure they lived up to the Heat Culture standards.
Haslem was always a bruiser, a tough guy you didn’t want to mess with; that’s how he established himself in the league, not because of his skills or impact on the court.
That’s why Jared Greenberg wanted to poke fun at him by stating that he would let Jimmy Butler know how much makeup he had when he was on set to call the preseason game between his Heat and the San Antonio Spurs (via Playbook SN).

Haslem, however, was unbothered by the joke and stated that it didn’t matter what Butler could say because he had a perm for his media day antics.
Butler is one of the funniest and biggest trolls in the league.
Notably, perhaps Haslem wouldn’t have let him do that if he were still playing.
But he can finally loosen up a little and pursue the next path in his career, all while the Heat will finally have an extra roster spot for someone who can actually be on the floor.
