Since August 24 is a day when the NBA celebrates the life and career of Kobe Bryant, many people expected big news about a statue for the Los Angeles Lakers legend.
For years now, the Lakers have been planning to create a statue to honor the NBA icon.
However, any plans for a reveal date or other details have been a secret.
But on Thursday morning, Vanessa Bryant finally revealed when fans can see a statue honoring her late husband.
In a video released by the Lakers, she said:
“On behalf of the Lakers, my daughters, and me, I am so honored that right in the center of Los Angeles, in front of the place known as ‘The House That Kobe Built’, we are going to unveil his statue so that his legacy can live forever.”
The video ends with the date 2-8-24, meaning the statute will finally be made public this February.

Even before Bryant’s passing, fans knew that he would receive the honor of being forever memorialized in front of Crypto.com Arena.
But after Bryant’s tragic death, the idea of a statue commemorating him changed and became more important to many.
Since then, people have wondered when they would see the statue and what it would look like.
We don’t know much about what the Lakers have planned.
There have been reports that the statue will pay homage to Bryant’s daughter Gianna, who also passed away in the helicopter crash.
But nothing has been definitively revealed about the statue, and likely won’t be until when the drape is pulled down in February.
One thing is definite: many people will turn out to see the unveiling of this statue and it will instantly become an important part of Lakers and NBA history.
