Back in 2017, the St. Louis Cardinals found a hidden gem in Japan when they signed right-hander Miles Mikolas to a two-year deal.

Mikolas had reinvented himself with the Yomiuri Giants and was set to return to the Majors.

Since the 2018 season, Mikolas has been one of the Cardinals’ most consistent starters.

Earlier this year, the Cardinals gave the veteran right-hander a two-year contract extension.

Today, Mikolas is celebrating a special day, as he turns 35 years old.

On Twitter, the Cardinals posted a few photos of the right-hander and some of his best moments as a member of the team to honor him on his special day.

Mikolas owns a record of 6-9 this year with an ERA of 4.55.

His best season with the Cardinals so far was the 2018 season.

That year, he was their best pitcher and won 18 games, posting a 2.83 ERA.

However, Mikolas remains a veteran presence in the rotation and a leader in the clubhouse.

The veteran right-hander has had plenty of great moments in a Cardinals uniform.

A recent moment that stands out for Cardinals fans is when he carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning last year on June 14 with the Pittsburgh Pirates in town.

He has also been a solid postseason pitcher for St. Louis, pitching five innings and allowing one run in Game 1 of the 2019 NLDS and later pitching a gem in Game 1 of the NLCS.

His next start is set for Friday night when the Cardinals head to Philadelphia to take on the defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies.
