Victor Wembanyama, the sensational 7-foot-4 rookie center for the San Antonio Spurs, entered the NBA season as the most hyped first-year player since at least LeBron James.

Although he has struggled a bit at times, he is living up to the hype, as his ceiling is clearly about as high as any player in recent memory.

According to Joe Vardon, the French native will get to play in next season’s NBA Paris game, which means he will get to play in front of fans from his native country once again, per Legion Hoops.

Through 31 games, Wembanyama is averaging 19.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, and an NBA-high 3.3 blocked shots in 29.2 minutes a game.

He has struggled with his shooting at times, but he is still in a discovery phase where he is figuring out what he can and cannot do at a high level.

One of the most impressive things about the rookie center is the fact that he appears to possess the “clutch gene,” which could take him even further than his mere physical talent and ability.

The one big downside to Wembanyama’s first NBA experience is the fact that the Spurs are simply an awful team and hold a 5-30 record, which is the worst mark in the Western Conference.

He talked about wanting to win a championship as early as draft day, and clearly, his team is years away from getting to that level.

On the bright side, San Antonio’s struggles will likely mean they will have a very high draft pick this June, which would give them a golden opportunity to pair Wembanyama with another potential star for years to come.
