The San Antonio Spurs won’t rush things with star rookie Victor Wembanyama, but it seems like he could be ahead of schedule already.

Granted that it’s just the preseason, but the No. 1 pick of the 2023 NBA Draft has been quite impressive in limited action.

As of now, he’s leading the team in total points (43) in the preseason, according to Spurs Muse.

Most total ___ in the preseason so far for the Spurs:

PTS: 43 – V. Wembanyama
RBS: 18 – C. Bassey
AST: 11 – T. Jones
BLK: 6 – C. Bassey
STL: 5 – T. Jones
3PM: 7 – D. Vassell

The French star put on a show vs. the Miami Heat on Friday night, scoring 23 points in as many minutes to go along with four rebounds and four assists.

Wembanyama has been playing the four on offense, and the five on defense, and his presence on the floor is disrupting everything for other teams.

Other teams aren’t even trying to challenge him or dare meet him on the rim, knowing that he’s more than capable of swatting their shots into the stands.

He’s been lurking around in the perimeter as a help defender, making other teams think twice or hesitate to pull up from beyond the arc as well, proving that he can make an immediate impact on that end of the floor, and showcasing the potential to be the most disruptive defender in the league in no time.

We’re talking about a player who can put the ball on the floor, pull up from all three levels, finish with both hands, and be an elite rim protector.

His skill set is otherworldly and looks like a cheat code, or the kind of player one creates in NBA 2K with all the stats maxed out.
