For years, Trae Young has been tied to a move away from the Atlanta Hawks.

He’s no longer a Klutch Sports client, so those who thought he was a lock to go to the Los Angeles Lakers might be in for a tough time.

However, given his family and college history, he’s also been rumored to be a target for both the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs rumors have heated up over the past couple of weeks, especially considering how badly Gregg Popovich’s team needs a lead guard.

With that in mind, Tim McMahon of ESPN reports that Victor Wembanyama is ‘intrigued’ by the idea of teaming up with the former Sooner (Via Evan Sidery).

People familiar with Victor Wembanyama say he’s intrigued by the idea of Trae Young coming to the Spurs, per @espn_macmahon (https://t.co/mPbyfqtx4t).

McMahon’s report states that people close to Wembanyama say he’s considered the idea.

The Spurs currently have the No. 4 and No. 8 picks in the upcoming draft, and with this being a less-than-impressive class, the timing seems right for them to package them up and get Young.

Of course, Young isn’t exactly the kind of player one would normally see play for the Spurs, especially on the defensive end of the floor.

Still, given his age and shot-making ability, he could put together a very special duo with the most exciting rookie this game has seen since LeBron James, and it shouldn’t take long before top-notch free agents take a look at the Spurs as a prime destination.
