The San Antonio Spurs recently matched up with the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2023-24 NBA season.

Most fans had their sights on the ever-so-talented Victor Wembanyama, who didn’t disappoint fans following yet another elite performance in his rookie year.

Despite putting up 19 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 8 blocks against the Memphis Grizzlies, the San Antonio Spurs ended up losing the game.

The final score stood at 108-120, as the Spurs have now fallen to a 3-10 record.

During the postgame conference, Victor Wembanyama shared his thoughts on putting career-high blocks in a single game via ClutchPoints on Twitter.

“I see lately [teams go at me] less, and less every game,” Wembanyama said.

“I see lately [teams go at me] less, and less every game… I see that in the In-Season but even before in my life.”

Victor Wembanayma has a towering height, and obviously, fans expect him to be a defensive juggernaut during games.

After all, with a towering height of 7’4″, Wembanyama has the unique ability to block even high-arching shots with ease.

It was evident after seeing Wembanyama having eight blocks against the Memphis Grizzlies.

For the season, Wembanyama is averaging 19.3 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists,1.1 steals, and 2.6 blocks per game for the Spurs.

Unfortunately, Wembanyama’s numbers are not translating to wins for the organization.

If they had been leading to victories, the Spurs would have had a much better record than 3-10, and they would obviously not be in the 15th spot in the Western Conference.

Sure, there are still a lot of games left in the regular season, and the Spurs can still turn their season around, at least in theory.

But to actually make a comeback this season, the Spurs need to get better supporting players around their rookie superstar, Victor Wembanyama.
