On a night when only four NBA games were played, the San Antonio Spurs took over the internet.
After starting the game off hot, the Spurs kept their dominance rolling throughout, eventually beating the Phoenix Suns.
The Spurs have now started their season with a 3-2 record.
While it is still early on in the year, this is an initial sign that their offseason work paid off.
The biggest offseason acquisition for the Spurs, of course, was Victor Wembanyama, one of the most highly-regarded prospects in league history.
He ended this game with 38 points, a career-high.

When asked about his performance via Paul Garcia, Wembanyama said, “Somebody has to do it,” humbly adding, “Tomorrow, it will be one of my teammates.”
Wemby on taking over in crunch time tonight: “Somebody has to do it. Tomorrow it will be one of my teammates. Two days ago, it was Keldon (Johnson). This is how we work. We work as a group and as a team.”

Instead of taking this time to boast about himself and his accomplishments, Wembanyama chose to talk about his team as a whole.
He pointed to Keldon Johnson, a breakout star in his respect.
Johnson was a catalyst for the Spurs’ win against the Suns on Halloween, scoring 27 points and taking over as the team’s leading scorer.
The Spurs might be one of the youngest teams in the league, but they have shown that they are not solely anchored by Wembanyama.
However, this does not take away from his massive game, one that quickly went viral.
This isn’t likely to be the last big performance from Wembanyama, a player who seems to get better as the weeks go by.
Can the Spurs build on this momentum for the rest of the season, resulting in their first playoff berth since 2019?
