San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama wasn’t able to win a gold medal at the Paris Olympics but he did get to play alongside, and against, some of his idols.

Speaking on French TV, per Hated on X, Wembanyama talked about battling Kevin Durant.

“He’s my youth icon. He’s my favorite player. I made him understand that I want to learn from him, and steal 1 or 2 of his secret techniques,” Wembanyama said.

He noted that the two players spoke after their gold medal game, which is a moment that will stick with Wembanyama forever.

Wembanyama played fantastically throughout the Olympics and made all of France very proud.

In the end, the team had to settle for silver but that’s quite the accomplishment, especially when playing against Team USA and Durant.

Wembanyama is a young man who has only been in the NBA for a single season.

For years, he watched Durant and others and modeled his game after them.

And now he gets to play with them in the league and against them on the world stage of the Olympics.

Wembanyama can learn a lot from Durant and is surely still watching him closely.

His first season proved that he can grow a ton, and already has.

He showed major improvements in his rookie year, enhancing his already strong defense but also growing with offense.

The sky seems to be the limit for Wembanyama.

Now he has some time off to rest and relax before training camp and preseason.

In a few months, he will be back on the court and playing against his idol again.
