On Wednesday night, Utah Jazz forward Taylor Hendricks attempted to dunk on San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama.

He quickly learned that wasn’t a good idea, as Wembanyama shut down the dunk with ease.

Following that game, the Spurs rookie threw some shade at Taylor, according to Hector Ledesma.

“Regardless of the challenge it is to sometimes want to dunk on your opponent, it was a bad choice I think,” Wembanyama said.

“You’ve got to be smart,” he added.

How savage can #Wemby be?

Pretty savage off the court too

Anyone who has been watching Wembanyama this season wasn’t surprised to see him block Hendricks at the basket.

Even though he’s still a rookie, the Spurs star is leading the league in blocks, with 3.5 per game.

Throughout the year, he has shown that his defensive powers are incredibly impressive and that he is just a season or two away from winning Defensive Player of the Year.

This season, that award will likely be given to Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves but Wembanyama is proving that he’s angling for it in the near future.

But it’s not just the defense that Wembanyama is delivering.

In just a few months, Wembanyama has improved his offense as well and his competitive edge has grown too.

At the start of the season, it was clear that the rookie would need some time to adjust to the pace of the NBA.

He has done that and is now a driving force on his team against any number of opponents.

Because of his impressive height and massive wingspan, people will always think of Wembanyama as a defensive powerhouse.

His block of Hendricks on Wednesday reminded fans why that is.

But Wembanyama is getting better in every aspect of his game and his confidence is clearly increasing.
