On Monday evening, the New York Jets will host the Los Angeles Chargers as they will have the opportunity to solidify their playoff hopes a little more.
When quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles in Week 1, it was widely assumed the Jets would miss the playoffs and endure yet another painful season.
Instead, they have scrapped their way to a 4-3 record, which puts them in second place in the AFC East.
There are whispers that Rodgers may try to make a return to the field later this season, and he took a step toward doing so by walking under his own power through MetLife Stadium, per the Jets’ Twitter account.

An athlete returning from a torn Achilles in just a few months seems unthinkable, but the Jets organization has done unthinkable things in the past.
The last time they won the Super Bowl, which happened during the 1968 season, they were huge underdogs in the big game to the Baltimore Colts, only to prevail, 16-7, with the help of MVP Joe Namath.
This year’s edition has been winning games with old-fashioned grit and determination, as well as defense, an area in which they excelled last year.
So far this year, they rank sixth in points allowed, although they have struggled to stop the run, as they’re 31st in rushing yards allowed.
The Chargers have running back Austin Ekeler, one of the most underrated players at his position who is as equally adept at gaining yards on the ground as he is catching passes in the air, and New York must contain him in order to get a victory.
