The Minnesota Timberwolves have officially arrived.
They’re now up 1-0 on the Phoenix Suns, and it seems like they mean business this time.
They’ve finally found a legitimate leader and franchise-caliber player in Anthony Edwards, and that’s great news for the fan base.
On top of his stellar game on both ends of the floor, Edwards has that old-school demeanor and mentality that has made young and old fans alike and even former players fall in love with his game.
That was on full display during Game 1 of their first-round matchup with the Suns, as he knocked down shot after shot before trash-talking Kevin Durant (via Dubs 408).

Following the win, Edwards admitted that it was actually a great moment for him because everybody knew that he grew up idolizing Durant, who he called his favorite player ever.
Edwards scored 33 points on 14-of-24 shooting with nine rebounds, six assists, two steals, and four three-pointers.
Durant wasn’t too shabby either, scoring 31 on 11-for-17 to go along with seven boards, one assist, one steal, one block, and a couple of three-pointers.
The Timberwolves were one of the best teams in the league this season, but some people still doubted their ability to get the job done in the playoffs, as they’re young, and Karl-Anthony Towns has a long history of shortcomings when it matters the most.
That’s why getting their confidence up by beating such a talented — yet underperforming — team like the Suns could do wonders for them, and they have enough talent to make some noise in the West.
