A change of scenery can sometimes be all that is needed to get back on track and mend relationships that were once seemingly irreparable.
The Detroit Lions were a disaster during the Matt Patricia era, as it seemed like nothing went right with the struggling franchise getting deeper and deeper into a hole in the NFC.
Patricia’s time as head coach of the Lions was destined to come to an end as he simply couldn’t turn things around and struggled to see eye-to-eye with stars on the team like cornerback Darius Slay.
Ironically, Patricia and Slay are now reunited on the Philadelphia Eagles, with the former Lions head coach now being a senior defensive assistant and Slay being one of the best players on the team.
Although many thought there may still be some bad blood between these two, the following video from Chris Franklin of NJ.com says otherwise, via Dov Kleiman.
There was once a lot of bad blood between star CB Darius Slay and then #Lions head coach Matt Patricia during their time in Detroit.
But now they’re both on the #Eagles and it seems they’ve put that bad history behind them.

With the Eagles being arguably the best all-around team in the NFC right now, it’s not all that surprising that Patricia and Slay are on the same page right now, with Philadelphia being a legitimate Super Bowl title contender heading into the 2023 NFL season.
However, things can change quickly if the team starts to struggle, especially if those struggles are on the defensive side of the football.
Although the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers are expected to make some noise in the NFC next season, the Eagles have a great chance of going the distance in 2023, with superstar quarterback Jalen Hurts leading the way.
