The Cleveland Cavaliers got their star player locked in for the future.
Donovan Mitchell has officially signed a very lucrative contract extension that will keep him in Cleveland through the 2026-27 season, at the very least, with a player option for the following season.
It’s safe to say that Mitchell looks as healthy as he’s ever been.
In a now-viral clip shared by Cam Wilder (via Legion Hoops), the talented shooting guard was spotted throwing down a wild dunk, showcasing his bounce and athleticism again.

Mitchell struggled with a knee injury late last season, and some wondered whether he would have to undergo surgery at some point, whether it was this offseason or in the foreseeable future.
There were rumors about Mitchell always wanting to force his way to his hometown to play for the New York Knicks, yet he never requested a trade and just kept his head down and got to work.
He’s clearly the Cavaliers’ franchise player and building block, and whether they keep Darius Garland by his side or look to bring another star by his side won’t change that.
Also, it’s hard to think of the Cavaliers signing him to such a long-term deal without making him go through a series of tests and exams to determine how healthy he was.
