Wednesday’s game between the New York Mets and the New York Yankees resulted in a victory for the former.
That doesn’t mean, however, that it wasn’t a back-and-forth game with lead changes and clutch hitting and baserunning.
Actually, it was one of the most exciting games of the season.

With the score tied at one at the top of the seventh inning, Isiah Kiner-Falefa’s speed proved to be very disruptive for the Yankees.
He hit a ground ball that looked like a double play, but resulted in an error and a run scoring because IKF put pressure on second baseman Jeff McNeil with his speed.
He then stole second base and advanced to third.
With Billy McKinney batting, he then proceeded to steal home plate with the Yankees’ third run of the game.
He had a lot of responsibility for two of the team’s three runs.
Unfortunately for the Yankees, Jimmy Cordero allowed two runs that tied the game in the bottom of the seventh; and the Mets won it in extras with a long Brandon Nimmo single.
Yet, the play that’s still in fans’ heads is Kiner-Falefa’s steal of home, which is one of the most thrilling plays in baseball.
The two New York teams proved that they are both competitive even though neither is enjoying its best streak of the season.
The Yankees won by a final of 7-6 on Tuesday and the Mets fired back on Wednesday.
Despite what their current records or rankings might say, both New York teams are expected to be playoff contenders.
