The Detroit Tigers have started the 2023 season with a 2-5 record in their first seven games.

Much like last year, they probably have little to no hope of contending.

However, their young prospects and promising hitters need to take a step forward with an eye on the future.

The first six games were played on the road.

On Thursday, the Tigers had their home opener against the Boston Red Sox at Comerica Park.

Tigers fans are enjoying Miguel Cabrera‘s last home opener, as the slugger said this will be his final season as a major leaguer.

Of course, the future Hall of Famer was soaking everything in, smiling and greeting everybody in sight.

He was, of course, the most celebrated player in the introductions.

People in Detroit love him, as he gave them memories they won’t ever forget.

With Cabrera, the Tigers advanced to the World Series in 2012, although they couldn’t take down the San Francisco Giants.

That year, Cabrera won the MVP award and the hitting Triple Crown in the American League.

He won another MVP a year later, several Silver Slugger awards, and went to 12 All-Star Games.

In Detroit, he had his best years as a player, with an impressive prime and some otherworldly numbers.

He has already achieved 600 doubles, 500 home runs, and 3,000 hits.

He will likely retire with a batting average over .300, as well.

At the peak of his abilities, Cabrera was up there with Albert Pujols as one of the best right-handed hitters of our time.

It’s good to see him enjoying his last home opener against the fans that love him the most.
