It might sound like a cliché, but football is a team sport, and it takes a whole team to win in the NFL.
That’s why so many legendary individual players retire without ever winning a Super Bowl.
With that in mind, the University of Notre Dame had two prime guests in attendance at a recent team meeting, bringing in Super Bowl champions Peyton Manning and Eli Manning to give the Fighting Irish a motivational speech.
“It is not just about you … the best teams I played on, the best players practiced the hardest,” Peyton Manning said, via author Greg Berge.

Winning FOR each other is contagious.
It is what being a great TEAMMATE is all about.

Peyton Manning’s message likely was inspiring to that group of players, who realized how much work and dedication it takes to be great.
Throughout the course of his career, Peyton Manning was known for being harsh on his teammates when he needed to be.
As easy-going and friendly as he was, he wouldn’t hesitate to hold his teammates accountable.
He could afford to do that not only because of his incredible talent but also because he knew he earned his stripes because of how hard he worked.
He had a reputation as someone who would get to the practice facility first and leave well after everybody else, so he could demand his teammates also put in that kind of effort.
Hopefully, his powerful words inspired some of the new leaders and stars of the future.
