On Sunday, the Boston Celtics headed into Game 7 against the Philadelphia 76ers with the season and a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals on the line.

Despite being the higher seed, the Celtics struggled in this second-round playoff series against Joel Embiid and company, and as a result, were down 3-2, facing two win-or-go home scenarios to finish the series.

With the season on the line in Game 7, superstar forward Jayson Tatum came to play on Sunday, as he set a record for points scored in Game 7 with 51, leading to a 24-point blowout.

Tatum’s 51 breaks the record recently set by Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors (50), who lit up the Sacramento Kings to advance to the second round.

Tatum received a standing ovation at TD Garden as he headed to the bench following arguably the best performance of his NBA career.

With Tatum crushing the 76ers in Game 7 of this second-round playoff series, the Celtics will turn their attention to the Miami Heat, who recently advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals after beating the New York Knicks in six games.

Ironically enough, the stage is set for a repeat of what happened in the NBA bubble three years ago, when the Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Celtics, and Heat were the final four teams left standing in the postseason.

The Celtics and Nuggets were expected to get this far in the playoffs after the regular season those two teams had, but the same can’t be said for the Lakers and Heat, who barely made the postseason and have far exceeded expectations up to this point.
