After missing the NBA Playoffs this past season, the Golden State Warriors headed into the offseason with a lot of questions surrounding the storied franchise, especially when it came to the immediate future of four-time champion Klay Thompson.
Ultimately, Thompson had no intention of returning to the team that drafted him back in 2011, as the Warriors and the future Hall of Famer couldn’t see eye-to-eye on a new contract despite securing the long-term futures of longtime teammates Steph Curry and Draymond Green.
After becoming an unrestricted free agent, Thompson received considerable interest around the league and ended up joining the Dallas Mavericks to play alongside fellow stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
Although Curry lost his “Splash Brothers” partner, the Warriors’ brass has been working hard to fill the void and could make a big move, namely trading for Lauri Markkanen, to get back into title contention.
In the meantime, Curry is getting ready to represent the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with Team USA preparing to take on Canada in a tune-up game in Las Vegas next week, via ClutchPoints.

Playing for Team USA this summer will be a much-needed distraction for Curry as he sets his eyes on winning a gold medal while playing alongside other superstars like LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard.
Although the Americans are the favorites as of right now, there will be no shortage of competition for the gold medal. Canada is a force to be reckoned with, sporting a roster that includes NBA stars Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jamal Murray.
