The Minnesota Vikings made a recent move to free up a roster spot.

According to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the team released veteran cornerback Joejuan Williams, who was on his second stint with the franchise.

The 26-year-old will now look for his fourth different team in the last four years.

After Williams spent the first four seasons of his career with the New England Patriots, he joined the practice squad of the Vikings in 2023.

He would then get poached by the Bears in the middle of the season before getting released on Halloween.

The former Vanderbilt Commodore would then go back to Minnesota later in 2023.

He was signed to a reserve/future contract in January.

Now, he has been released.

Williams has 46 career tackles and 10 career pass deflections.

He has played in 42 career games and has started just once.

Look for him to continue his career on another practice squad at the very least.

Minnesota’s cornerback room now includes second-year defender Akayleb Evans, Byron Murphy Jr., Josh Metellus, and Shaquille Griffin.

In a division with Jared Goff, Jordan Love, and now Caleb Williams, cornerback is a serious position of need for all teams.

Defensive coordinator Brian Flores will have his hands full trying to prepare each week in the NFC North, but the good news is that his vision for the depth chart is looking more and more clear on the boundary.

It does also help when you have a six-time Pro Bowl free safety in Harrison Smith patrolling center field.
