After losing veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins to a torn Achilles tendon, the Minnesota Vikings decided to bring in Joshua Dobbs in a trade with the Arizona Cardinals.

With all the emotions swirling due to Cousins’ season-ending injury, the Vikings came into Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons amped to get a win for their longtime quarterback, with Dobbs filling in for the four-time Pro Bowler.

Fortunately, Dobbs was able to have a stellar performance in his debut for the Vikings, as he scored three touchdowns, with two in the air and one on the ground.

Unfortunately, the Vikings couldn’t get out of this game without suffering another devastating injury, with running back Cam Akers going down with the same injury that ended Cousins’ season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Vikings’ HC Kevin O’Connell told reporters that RB Cam Akers suffered an Achilles injury today.

Akers recorded only eight carries for 25 rushing yards before going down with the injury and is now expected to miss the rest of the 2023 NFL season.

Although losing Akers isn’t as costly as losing their star quarterback, it is another injury in a season filled with injuries for the Vikings, but at least Minnesota appears to be on the right track with four straight wins.

Another promising sign for this team in the wake of another season-ending injury is that Dobbs appears to be rejuvenated and the right man for the job under center.

Along with Dobbs playing well, the Vikings will likely get superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson back in the mix very soon, which seems to be right at the right time, even though the team will need to do something about the running back position.
