Football is a physical sport, and as such, NFL players are always exposed to getting hurt.
Even when there’s no contact, they’re always one movement away from a potential season or even career-ending injury.
Unfortunately, that was the case in the Twin Cities.
According to a report by Alec Lewis of The Athletic, Kevin O’Connell’s team is already down one soldier ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Vikings CB Mekhi Blackmon tore his ACL today, a source confirms. Just absolutely brutal. For him, in his second year, and the team in general.

Second-year cornerback Mekhi Blackmon tore his ACL in the very first practice of training camp.
This is brutal news not only for him but also for the team, as they’ve already dealt with major issues at the position.
Earlier this month, CB Khyree Jackson was killed in a car accident in Maryland.
The fourth-round pick was firmly expected to be in the mix to start.
As for Blackmon, he was coming off a promising rookie season, making 15 appearances with three starts.
Per reports, he sustained the injury during some 7-on-7 drills.
He limped his way off the field and was on the ground for a while before being able to walk to the locker room.
Now, the Vikings will have to dig deep into their depth chart to make up for yet another major loss.
Blackmon is still young and can come back from this, and we wish him a speedy recovery.
