The Minnesota Vikings are a team in transition, that much is certain.
Four-time Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins is now an Atlanta Falcon, and for now, head coach Kevin O’Connell must rely on journeyman Sam Darnold to lead an offense that is hardly devoid of weapons.
A position of strength is on the offensive front, where tackles Christian Darrisaw and Brian O’Neill anchor a solid wall of protection.
Now, management has it’s sights set on maintaining continuity along the line by locking up one of these valuable pieces for the distant future.
Charley Waters reported via The Purple Persuasion that Minnesota is willing to offer a massive contract extension to Darrisaw, but there is a significant catch.
He must remain healthy.
The #Vikings will give LT Christian Darrisaw a mega-extension a year from now, BUT only if he remains healthy per @Charley_Walters.

In late April, the team took a step in it’s commitment to Darrisaw by exercising the fifth-year option on his rookie contract.
This extended his time in Minnesota until at least 2025.
Darrisaw was the team’s first-round selection, 23rd overall, in the 2021 NFL draft after playing his college football at Virginia Tech.
The Vikings’ health stipulation for a possible lucrative extension is interesting, considering that he has started 39 of the 41 games he has played with the franchise.
Darrisaw also started all 15 games he played in during the 2023 campaign.
He did miss two games late in the 2022 season due to a concussion and suffered ankle and groin injuries last year.
Four games were also lost to groin and ankle injuries in his rookie season.
But Darrisaw is a highly-regarded tackle, a position that carries considerable value in the NFL.
The Vikings clearly want to secure his services – if healthy – for the future.
