Judging by his stats, Vince Carter might not be one of the greatest players in NBA history.
Even so, his legacy in hoops went far beyond the numbers, and those who actually watched him play in his prime can attest to how much of a problem he was on the court.
That’s why it wasn’t much of a surprise to see him become a finalist to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Still, Carter was overwhelmed by all the emotion and all the love he’s gotten from everybody since the finalists were announced, so he took to Twitter to thank everybody.
Mannnnn! Thank you to everyone who reached out to me this evening. This is so surreal so from me to you I say much love to you all,” Carter said.

Vince Carter is the only player to play in four different decades (90s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s).
He put the Toronto Raptors on the map and put everybody on their feet with his emphatic poster dunks.
He later played for the New Jersey Nets, and while he wasn’t able to win an NBA championship, he turned an ever-struggling franchise into must-watch television.
Carter will go down as one of the most durable players to ever live, an example of hard work and a relentless work ethic.
He mentored countless young players, and his poster dunks will rank high on every basketball fan’s list.
His numbers would’ve been way more impressive if he had decided to retire earlier, but his love for basketball made him come back year after year after year, and he’s definitely earned this honor.
