Warriors Are Being Linked To Star Player This Offseason

The Golden State Warriors are coming off a disappointing season.

They don’t seem to have the kind of roster that could make a deep postseason push anymore.

Their championship core is aging, and other than Stephen Curry, who’s still at the peak of his powers, they don’t have a clear-cut star right now.

That’s why it wouldn’t be shocking to see them go after Paul George if Klay Thompson ends up leaving, at least according to NBA insider Brett Siegel (via Legion Hoops).

Truth be told, that could make perfect sense for all parties involved.

On one hand, the Warriors would avoid overpaying for an aging Thompson, and they could use Chris Paul’s contract as a salary-filler to make the numbers work.

The Clippers could also get one of the Warriors’ young players to avoid losing George for nothing.

As for George, he’d get to sign the contract extension he’s currently looking for, all while playing alongside another superstar, thus giving the team another shot at a championship.

On top of that, George would get to stay on the West Coast and in California, which should be a major factor at this point in his life and his career.

He’s been rumored to be a target for both the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers, but his family is based in California, and that just cannot be overlooked.

For now, all signs point towards George taking his talents somewhere else in the summer, and that somewhere might be the Bay area.
