The Golden State Warriors have an interesting decision to make with legendary point guard Chris Paul.

They have to decide if they want to keep the 39-year-old around for another season or not.

In light of that, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski just recently broke the news that the team and Paul have agreed to push the date back on their decision so that Paul can earn his $30 million guaranteed.

“This gives the Warriors time to keep exploring trades,” Wojnarowski tweeted.

ESPN Sources: Golden State and Chris Paul intend to move back the date to guarantee the $30 million on his 2024-2025 contract to the start of free agency on Sunday. Deadline was originally today. This gives Warriors time to keep exploring trades.

Paul is no more than a bench contributor at this point in his career.

The 12-time All-Star is coming off of a career-low season in terms of points per game (9.2), assists (6.8), and games started (18).

Perhaps the only reason why he is still playing is a chance at a ring.

The former Wake Forest star and former fourth overall pick is about to enter his 20th season in the league but has never won a title.

He has tried his luck with the Suns and Warriors, but he could not get over the top with either.

If he wants to go after that ring, perhaps a team like the 76ers, Celtics, or Nuggets would be interested in his services.

He is a brilliant basketball mind and has seen a lot in his time playing in the NBA.

If the Warriors think that they can still win a championship, they would be wise to keep him around.

But for the time being, the franchise will take some time to figure out what they want to do.
