After appearing like they were dead in the water, the Golden State Warriors have bounced back and are playing like one of the best teams in the NBA.
The Warriors sit in 10th place in the Western Conference, but their record doesn’t indicate how well they’ve been playing on both ends of the floor.
Stephen Curry has regained his superstar form, while Draymond Green’s breathed life back into the defense.
However, Klay Thompson has continued to look like a shell of himself as he tries his hardest to find his shooting rhythm again.
Head coach Steve Kerr has stuck with Thompson for most of the 2023-24 NBA season, but he recently benched the sharpshooter for the first time since his rookie season.
Thompson’s decline has been well-documented this year, but Warriors owner Joe Lacob hasn’t lost any faith in the shooting guard via Tim Kawakami of The Athletic.
“I love him like a son… I believe in Klay and Stand Behind him too,” Lacob said.

Thompson showed signs of decline last year, and his diminished presence really showed in the semifinals last season against the Los Angeles Lakers where he was net negative in just about every game of the series.
Thompson’s deal expires after this season and while people like Lacob would like for him to retire with Golden State, other teams could try to pry him away if they believe he still has something left in the tank.
The veteran guard would have suitors if he decided to test the market, though the Warriors’ preference would be for him to become a valuable contributor down the stretch.
