Over the summer, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr kept busy as he coached Team USA during the FIBA World Cup and got the chance to mentor some young players like Anthony Edwards, Mikal Bridges, and Austin Reaves.
Although Edwards received plenty of praise from Kerr, as he believes the Minnesota Timberwolves superstar could be the next big thing in the NBA, Reaves of the Los Angeles Lakers really impressed him.
Reaves has had a storybook career in the NBA thus far as he went undrafted, signed a two-way deal with the Lakers, and became a starter alongside superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
That success has only grown for Reaves as he has a new contract with the Lakers and a signature shoe while being seen on billboards all across Los Angeles.
Apparently, Kerr sees a lot of similarities between Reaves and Warriors rookie Brandin Podziemski, who recently talked about the comparisons on 95.7 The Game.
Brandin Podziemski: “Coach [Kerr] compares me to Austin Reaves a lot. Going undrafted to now getting a big contract. He does a little of everything. I watch a lot of him.”

Unlike Reaves, who went undrafted, Podziemski had a bit of an easier start to his career in the league, with the Warriors drafting him No. 19 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft.
However, Podziemski will have to prove himself like Reaves did, with the Warriors having a backcourt filled with future Hall of Famers, including Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Chris Paul.
It’ll be interesting to see if Podziemski can play substantial minutes during his first season with the Warriors and if he can make an impact while Golden State tries to get back to title-contending status in the Western Conference.
