Kyle Lowry is one of the few remaining free agents right now in the NBA who may be capable of making a tangible impact on his next team.

He spent the second half of last season with the Philadelphia 76ers after the Miami Heat traded him to the Charlotte Hornets and the Hornets waived him, and he averaged 8.1 points and 4.2 assists in 28.2 minutes a game over the full campaign.

The Phoenix Suns reportedly are talking to Lowry about possibly signing him, per Evan Sidery.

Lowry could be deciding between a return to the Sixers or leaving for Phoenix.

The Suns put together a star-studded team with Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, and going into last season, many were picking them to reach the 2024 NBA Finals.

But they got swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves, and suddenly it became clear they had serious roster shortcomings.

Their biggest issue is the lack of a true point guard, and though Lowry isn’t what he used to be, the 38-year-old could help fill that void.

He won an NBA championship in 2019 with the Toronto Raptors and made an additional trip to the NBA Finals in 2023 while with the Heat, so he would bring valuable postseason experience to a Suns team that has never won it all.

Even at this stage of his career, Lowry can still spread the floor. He made 39.2 percent of his 3-point attempts while taking 4.2 per game last season.

With the Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans making notable additions this summer, Phoenix seemingly needs a reinforcement or two in order to go deep into the 2025 playoffs.
