As soon as Steve Ballmer took the reins of the team, it seemed like the Los Angeles Clippers would be a prime destination for free agents.
Now, that might not be the case.
First, he traded Blake Griffin shortly after claiming he would be their franchise player.
Then, he lost Paul George over a contract dispute.
And last but not least, he might turn his back on Russell Westbrook.
The former MVP could’ve become a free agent and then signed a more lucrative deal somewhere else.
Instead, he decided to pick up his $4 million player option to run it back with Tyronn Lue’s team.
However, it seems like he’s not going to be there for much longer, as the Clippers are reportedly shopping him around.
With that in mind, NBA insider Marc Stein (via Andy Puente) reports that the Denver Nuggets are showing strong interest in his services.
The most tangible known interest in Russell Westbrook continues to come from Denver, per @TheSteinLine.

This doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as they recently parted ways with Reggie Jackson and also lost Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in free agency.
Also, given Jamal Murray’s history of injuries, adding Westbrook would be a great insurance policy.
Westbrook has proven that he’s willing to embrace a lesser role, and having him at just $4 million seems like a bargain.
Unfortunately for him, he’s most likely going to have to relocate after already getting his family back to his hometown.
But that’s just how ruthless this line of business can be, and perhaps he’ll finally be able to win the championship he so deserves if he teams up with Nikola Jokic.
