The Houston Texans are on the rise in the AFC.

After a successful 10-7 season that saw Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud, Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr., and the rest of the team take the AFC South title, this team is looking to build on that success.

They made some big moves earlier in the offseason by trading for All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs and signing former Pro Bowl edge-rusher Danielle Hunter.

One move they made during the NFL Draft was drafting two-time national champion cornerback Kamari Lassiter out of Georgia in the second round.

Lassiter has drawn praise from many of his teammates, including Will Anderson Jr.

“I’ve been amazed by him. He’s electric. He’s making plays left and right,” Anderson recently told the Houston media (via Aaron Wilson).

In a division with Michael Pittman Jr., DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley, Tyler Boyd, Christian Kirk, and Gabe Davis, teams are going to need good defensive backs.

Lassiter could be that for the Texans.

While at Georgia, the All-SEC defender recorded 37 tackles, 8 pass deflections, and 3.5 tackles for loss in 2023 after helping Georgia go back-to-back in 2021 and 2022.

With the Texans, he joins a loaded defense that includes Anderson and Hunter along both edges.

He also joins talented cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and veteran safety Jimmie Ward on the backend.

With DeMeco Ryans running the defense, it would be fair to say that this unit could be a top unit in football.

With the talent that is on offense, the AFC should look out for that team in Houston.
