The Washington Wizards were arguably the worst team in the NBA, at least game and personnel-wise.

The Detroit Pistons had the worst losing streak in NBA history, but some of those losses were quite close.

The Wizards, on the other hand, had little to celebrate this season.

However, Bilal Coulibaly was a bit of a light at the end of the tunnel.

The French guard/forward proved to be a special, NBA-ready defender right out of the gate.

Even so, he still struggled against one of the league’s best scorers.

Talking on FanDuel’s “Run It Back,” Coulibaly revealed that Brandon Ingram was the toughest player he had to guard in his rookie season, remembering he managed to put up 40 points and shot over him again and again.

“[Brandon Ingram] gave us 40. I was playing great defense but he was just shooting over my head, I was like what am I supposed to do?” #Wizards Bilal Coulibaly on the hardest player he had to guard this season. pic.twitter.com/poFoiaNjJ9

Coulibaly hangs his hat on the defensive end of the floor, and while there are a lot of traits to like about his game, that definitely pops out.

Even so, despite his long arms, Ingram’s wingspan still gave him an edge over him.

Coulibaly needs to be a more consistent shooter, and he could become one of the best two-way players in the game.

He should carve a larger role in Washington next season, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him be a starter from day one.

Other than that, Deni Avdija’s long-awaited and long-overdue breakout season was the only other bright spot for the Wizards, and it might be a long while before they get close to sniffing playoff contention again.
