The New York Yankees and their fans held their collective breath on Thursday night when reigning American League MVP Aaron Judge was pulled from the game and replaced in right field by Oswaldo Cabrera.

It was later announced that Judge had been pulled due to hip discomfort.

It is not yet known if Judge will require a stint on the injured list, but he could be out for a couple of days as he recovers.

On Twitter, a Yankees fan called for the front office and coaching staff to make a key move by calling up slugger Jake Bauers from Triple-A.

After Aaron Judge’s injury, the Yankees have ZERO excuse not to call up Jake Bauers…

Bauers has 9 homers and 20 RBIs already, hitting .319 with a .460 OBP.

Bauers has played at the Major League level before, having spent time with the Tampa Bay Rays, Cleveland Guardians, and Seattle Mariners.

In Triple-A, the 27-year-old is hitting .319 with nine home runs, 20 RBI, and a .460 on-base percentage.

Depending on how long Judge is out, adding Bauers to the mix could be beneficial for the Yankees.

The team does have Franchy Cordero on their roster right now, who is struggling at the plate.

But regardless of what happens with Judge, one would imagine that it won’t take much longer for the Yankees to decide to promote Bauers to their Major League roster.

The 27-year-old has been hitting for power and a high average and has also been getting on base and driving in runs.

It would seem that there is little more he can do in the minors before getting the call back to the big leagues.

All of this may depend on the Judge situation, however.
