The New York Yankees made it to the American League Championship Series in 2022, so fans expected a lot in the 2023 campaign.
The team, however, had one of its worst seasons in recent memory, flirting with a .500 record and finishing with a highly disappointing 82-80 balance.
Owner Hal Steinbrenner understands the expectations associated with leading the most successful MLB franchise in history: fans hate to lose, and they are demanding important additions to the roster.
Steinbrenner responded with a line that will surely pique their interest.
“Hal Steinbrenner: ‘Everything is on the table when it comes to free agents,’” MLB insider Mark Feinsand tweeted, quoting the son of “The Boss” George Steinbrenner.

There is a feeling around a portion of the fanbase that the Yankees don’t spend money on players.
They do: otherwise, they wouldn’t be in the top-three payrolls in the league.
They have added important contracts in recent offseasons such as Giancarlo Stanton, Gerrit Cole, Aaron Judge, and others.
Still, the roster has looked old and unathletic at times, and the offense in particular has been highly disappointing.
With Cody Bellinger, Matt Chapman, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Tommy Pham, JD Martinez, Teoscar Hernandez, Jorge Soler, and of course Shohei Ohtani as free agents, the expectation is that Steinbrenner, GM Brian Cashman, and the team bring in at least some players of that group.
Pitching-wise, the Yankees are fine even though they could always use an Ohtani, or a Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
It’s the offense that’s their most pressing need.
Will Steinbrenner deliver on his promise?
