The New York Yankees seem to be waving the white flag on their season.

Not only are they in last place in the AL East but they are also an afterthought in the Wild Card race.

The Yankees got bit by the injury bug this year and it has derailed their season.

For the last month of the season, the Yankees decided to give some of their young players a look.

That was why they called up Jasson Dominguez, Austin Wells, and Estevan Florial.

Also, the Yankees decided to make an interesting move to their pitching staff.

According to Bryan Hoch, the Yankees have added pitcher Zach McAllister to the roster.

Zach McAllister, just added to the #Yankees‘ roster, hasn’t pitched in the Majors since 2018. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in 2006; they traded him to Cleveland for Austin Kearns in 2010.

He has not pitched in the major leagues since 2018.

McAllister is 35 years old and has spent the last four seasons in the minor leagues.

The Yankees decided to give him a chance to see what he can do over the final few weeks.

In 55 minor league innings this year, McAllister has a 3.93 ERA and a .226 batting average against.

This is not a move that will change the fortune of the Yankees season.

But it will be interesting to see if McAllister has anything left in the tank.

The righty spent most of his major league career pitching for the Cleveland Guardians organization.

He was mostly used as a reliever but he did have three seasons where he made 15 or more starts.

We should all be rooting for McAllister to do well because it could be the final chance he gets in the majors.
