The Houston Astros showed some signs of life on Wednesday, taking Game 3 of the American League Championship Series against the Texas Rangers with an 8-5 score.
As he always does, Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez had a highly productive game, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
When Alvarez drives in at least a run, it’s actually a great sign for Houston because it almost always results in a win.

Alvarez has gifted us many signature postseason home runs and moments in general.
He is already up to 12 postseason homers and 36 RBI, and he is just 26.
He has the look of a player who will break all kinds of October records.
In the 2023 playoffs, Alvarez is hitting .407/.467/1.148 with six long balls, 10 RBI, and a 1.615 OPS.
How are hurlers supposed to pitch to a guy that good?
There are lots of talented hitters in the Astros lineup: Kyle Tucker, Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Michael Brantley, Chas McCormick, and Jose Abreu come to mind.
Still, no one comes even close to matching Alvarez’s talent and production, both in the regular season and the playoffs.
Not even Altuve.
Alvarez is a top-five hitter in baseball, and one of the most dominant postseason performers the league has seen in recent years.
When he produces, good things happen for the Astros.
