Over the last few months, James Harden of the Los Angeles Clippers has seen his public image be tarnished a bit because of his nasty breakup with the Philadelphia 76ers.
But a particular moment shared by a Houston Rockets player reveals that Harden is still an exemplary man who loves the game of basketball and his former team very much.
Appearing on the “Podcast P” show with Paul George, courtesy of NBA Retweet, Rockets star Alperen Sengun spoke about an interaction he had with Harden during a game.
As Sengun, Harden, and others waited for Kawhi Leonard to shoot free throws, Harden quietly told Sengun that he was “proud” of him.
“Keep it up,” Harden told Sengun, who was genuinely touched by the exchange.
During the Clippers/Rockets game, James Harden told Alperen Sengun that he’s proud of him and to keep it up:
“I think (Kawhi) Leonard was shooting or something. We were at the line with James Harden, and he said, ‘I’m so proud of you. Keep it up!’. I said, ‘It’s great to hear… pic.twitter.com/ZMihvT01bM

George commented on just how much the Rockets mean to Harden.
He played for that team for years and was its leader during a very thrilling chapter.
According to George, the praise he gave Sengun was Harden’s way of passing the torch from one generation of Rockets royalty to the next.
Harden is now playing for the Clippers but there was a moment recently when it seemed like he could be heading back down to Texas to suit up alongside Sengun and the rest of the Rockets.
Harden allegedly eyed a return to Houston but plans fell apart, mostly due to new head coach Ime Udoka and the plans that he was creating.
He may not have wound up in Houston again but the team still holds a very special place in his heart.
He wants to see it remain in good hands and that is why he is so happy to see Sengun thriving.
