First and second-year players are used to showcasing their talents in the NBA Summer League.
Rookies, for obvious reasons, need as many reps as they can possibly handle, and that also helps with the jitters and whatnot.
Second-year guys, on the other hand, often need to get more playing time and keep working on their skills to eventually carve a larger role in the rotation.
However, there’s always a handful of second-year players who were thrown into the fire right away as rookies, so they seem to be ahead of the learning curve when they return for the Summer League the next season.
Notably, that’s clearly the case with Brandin Podziemski.
Podziemski played a major role for the Golden State Warriors right off the jump, and he’s been two steps ahead of everybody else in the Summer League.
As pointed out by the NBA account on Twitter, he was on a roll in his latest outing, knocking down 21 points on 57.1% from the floor to go along with 12 rebounds and seven assists.

Podziemski showed an impressive ability to do a little bit of everything and fill up the stat sheet in his first year in the league, even getting a starting nod over Klay Thompson and/or Andrew Wiggins at times.
He’s scrappy and tough, and the kind of player who’s going to make hustle plays left and right, even if that doesn’t reflect on the stat sheet.
Now, with Thompson gone and Wiggins reportedly on the trade block, he should only get more minutes next season.
